For my first blog entry EVER, I've decided to go all out. Serg is out of the country so I'm partying hard! On Thursday night, I attended Mercy Ministries' first gala ball in Perth to support the work of this life-changing ministry here in our very own city. Riverview's amazing senior pastors Phil and Heather Baker hosted the night, featuring special guests: Mercy founder and world president Nancy Alcorn, Marina Prior, the All For One Big Band, our very own Paul Morrison and Dave Smith, as well as a few other familiar faces.
It was an inspiring night, particularly the amazing generosity of everyone that came along. It wasn't cheap either ($150 a ticket!) but it was well worth supporting the work these awesome people do in changing the lives of women across the world. People were donating money throughout the night, buying Mercy balloons, as well as bidding thousands of dollars on some of the cool items that were up for auction. My three votes for the night go to a man who bid $500 for a 10 kilogram block of Cadbury chocolate. The ironic thing is, later in the night he won the exact same prize in a raffle, and the EVEN MORE ironic part is that he's alergic to the stuff! Now that's generosity.
Mercy is always looking for people to support their great work. Check out their website to see how you can help.
Here's a few people I happened to bump into on the night...
