Tickets to the hottest show in Australia and they're mine!! ALL MINE!! *evil laugh*. Actually one of them belongs to Rayzo. So my excitement at getting the U2 tickets made me think about all the great shows I've been to - and thus led me to conduct a little survey. In the comments section, post the best and worst shows you've been to and why.
Even if it is Kelly Clarkson, don't be afraid to say so - because I'm reliably informed by certain someone who shall remain nameless (that works in a certain church bookstore that also shall remain nameless) that Kelly is now officially "cool". Go to it!

the best undoubtedly was james taylor at leeuwin estate - james has been a long time hero of mine.
lior at the rosemount hotel,
ben folds at the enmore theatre in sydney
neil finn at the civic theatre in christchurch
the waifs at fremantle arts centre
dave dobbyn at the christchurch arts centre (yes, the slice of heaven dude, he is nz rock royalty!!)
the whitlams at the gershwin room, esplanade hotel in st kilda, melbourne - phenomenal gig
hunters and collectors at hagley park in christchurch with 110,000 people
parker winning the finals of the battle of the bands at the cott hotel
and coldplay at the burswood dome july 2006
ok...
kelly IS officially cool, but no way the best i have seen....
BEST ever was EURYTHMICS Savage tour circa 1989. To this day, this show had the best intro i have ever seen...beauty in its simplicity :)
I have also seen Depeche Mode 3 times...Once in Perth( sadly to only 2000 people) but twice in the US with over 20,000...def life changing experiences...
And just to prove I am not an old fart, RADIOHEAD and MASSIVE ATTACK were both highlights....
Worst....hmmm..dont know if you guys remember 2Unlimited.... They played BERLIN nightclub at the peak of their popularity early 90's
played for 25mins, did 3 songs then played them twice.... VERY SAD!!!!
Mine would have to be Midnight Oil in 2001 at Metros (Perth). Mr Garratt is just an amazing performer & artist. Also Rolf Harris concert at Jondalup Arena in 2003 was an absolute winner.
Although I have to say more than anything- really looking forward to U2 in Adelaide (one of the most incredible bands in history), then Coldplay in Perth.
Delirious @ Riverview - best damn live gig I have seen followed very closely by Paul Colman Trio @ Riverview (their last gig as a trio) was damn good value.
I also saw Adam Brand on Friday night at the Civic (not the Como) as Tucker was mixing - he did a better gig at Glocester Park 18 months ago. Gavo was hapy he sang Dirt Track Cowboy!
Looking Forward to MArk Cullen @ Delirious and Delirious and U2 (if I am not in India) and Coldplay.
Kelly Clarkson is bollocks!
hmmm.. havent been to many live gigs.. best that comes to mind is the three tenors at the burswood dome a few years back.. the place was ELECTRIC!.. also the swithfoot gig last year was not too bad..
worst ever was a bobby brown concert back in my younger days.. i was chasing a girl and she was so into it.. i was just bored.. but i guess it wasnt so bad.. as i got a pash from her and we dated for a few months.. too bad she had a bad taste in music..haha. same could be said about her taste in guys i guess..shame
Now, I don't know about Kelly Clarkson nameless Bookstore guy, but I must say I would see her over a certain pop princess who shall remain nameless (she normally lives in England, made an appearance as a green fairy in the well loved Moulin Rouge movie (masterpiece of cinema, and I know we're talking bands so the digression will end here) and most recently has been struck with the most vicious disease of our century) but I'm sure she's a really lovely person and is a very talented artist with so much to offer this world - I'm praying for your full recovery Kylie :) After all of that, I didn't see Kelley recently and I probably would go and see Kylie now... just stirring :)
Favourite shows would have to be Michael Franti and Spearhead in Melbourne, Moby, Arrested Development, and Massive Attack are all highlights at Belvoir, Radiohead for sure.
Cheesiest show (and this may be controversial): Adam Brand at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre a few years back. Good on ya Adam for breaking into the country market so well!
Blasphemy! How could I forget Sting at Leeuwin!!! Sorry Sting, you were the highlight of 2005 for me :)
ok, i better post my favourites. my top two are probably the last Delirious concert at Riverview a few years back - i agree with B00f - that gig totally ROCKED. Probably more so than the Delirious concert i attended at Hillsong Conference with 20,000 people. The other would have to be John Mayer at Belvoir - that was memorable because El Rancho's good friend Brooke Fraser was supporting - and Red Rolle got us into the after party at Mayer's hotel.
On the other hand, one of the worst concerts I've attended was Jamiroquai at a half empty Burswood Dome. First half was average, and it got worse when the band descended into an extended marijuana-induced instrumental that lasted a good half hour.
I'm tipping this year that U2 in Melbourne, Coldplay at the Dome and Delirious at Riverview will be something to remember.
forgot to say, john mayer and brooke fraser at the northshore events centre in auckland was good, although very poor turnout.
worst was jamiroquai at the burswood dome. bad gig.
Brooke Fraser was excellent. And I loved Jack Johnson even if it was full of hippies. Worst ever? Human Nature. I only went coz we had free tickets though! Honest.
