What happens when you combine 2 people with the rockstar anointing, the will for cheap tickets and prayer power of believers in the risen Christ... Read on to find out...
Well mock us if you will but we like the Dixie Chicks...We're proud of it! I also speak of my friend Aron! (He was actually named after Elvis so his can't help but have the rockstar anointing.) And whatever conceptions you have about country music, all that aside - these chicks are talented in any musical circle! And I like it - I can't help it! Maybe it's the Texan rebel in me or the love of a good boot skootin' tune, but this last few weeks I discovered I wasn't alone. Dixie Chick fans started coming out of the southern bayou wood work everywhere and in the most surprising places!
So I tried to get tickets in every way I could think of... Competitions on the radio (thanks for nothin 94.5!), thanks to google I email stalked the last Friday's winner (though I'm sure Kim Lewis from Challenge TAFE thought it was funny, despite him declining my offer to give me his free tickets -but he did kindly reply- shame!)! I even took embarrassing sad photos of myself in a cowboy hat and my favourite Texan tshirt and emailed a sad story to the heads of the entertainment companies, radio stations and Country Music Magazine trying to score some last minute freebies to no avail. Though they did reply with some tips for next time and suggested tickets could have been mine if I gave them a weeks notice instead of 6hrs. Even our bidding on Ebay got snapped up before the sale ended - cheatin!
But confident in the rockstar anointing we ventured down to the Dome to loiter outside and look, let the rock anointing do it's thing and wait for the tickets to come to us. Even if we had to hear though the walls - these 2 poor church workers had faith and if "we go - they will come"...
AND THEY DID!!
Sure enough we came across a scalper...horrible name, but lovely people when you need something from them... and we did need their tickets! Two pommy blokes who'd been given tickets from their Aunty, but actually they just wanted some extra cash for the casino, so they took us up on our final offer to take their 2 tickets for $60 FOR BOTH (retail for $99 each)! Gold grandstand seats! NOTE: It's a smart trick to empty your pockets and show you have no more money for all you budding hagglers out there.
So here's the fruits of our labour!! We couldn't believe we got it for $30 each!
The Dixie's were worth the effort!! Totally! Great gig - we got great seats and if you want to see the website I made to try and persuade the masses - comment here and maybe I'll send it to you... if you are lucky and I feel you are worthy...wink wink!
