The Word..

funny how being in a foreign land(out of my comfort zone) makes me read the word more..

dunno about u but i rarely read the word when im in perth (sad but true)
but when overseas i tend to read it.. study it.. think about it.. feed from it..

i tend to spend more time with my king too ..

and best of all i get clarity and direction.. peace and comfort.. faith and hope
yet why is it that it take this to get me this close to my maker? i know.. im a self centred tosser and its not until i am taken out of the centre of myself that God can finally fill it.. dont get me wrong.. i love God and my life is His.. but its a daily, intentional decision to make Him No1 and not me and sadly when i'm in a place of comfort i tend to fall into the danger zone of complacency.. i pray God always keeps me outta that zone.. better a day in His presence.. than a 1000 elsewhere i say (or a psalmist).. so if being on the otherside of the world means i am forced to be closer to Him then i say BRILLIANT.. and if me being 'bored' 'missing my friends' or 'missing my life' then i say its a fair trade for what God is doing in me.. sorry but sometime ERR has to go deeper.. today was one of those days........

hey tony,
Sounds like a deep post... what's going on?
i know exactly what you mean by get closer to God when we are out of our comfort zone.I feel so much closer to him since i left (France ) which means my dear family and my beautiful caring friends!!! hard hey!!! but the best is to come with him. Your time there is for different reason that you'll discover later.

haha deep isn't all bad. we all swear sometimes and i know what you mean..

total battle to read the word and actually let it sink in when you're comfortable in your life and routine.

i find that i need to shake myself up every now and then with a good kick up the ass so i won't neglect one of the most priceless things in the whole world...

Amen brotha! Preach it! Totally with ya on that one - Oh how's the New Church of Tony developing - those little disciples over there will be soaking up the fruits of your knowing/growing in God - as you say... BRILLIANT!

I can totally relate. I struggled with the same (similar) feeling and really fought against it when I came back to the point where I went a bit fanatical trying to stay "uncomfortable". It didn't work, but God knew my intentions, thank goodness! So the next time I just had to ask God to strip away the things that I'm drawn to instead of Him when I get back to Perth.. and He does it! He doesn't take away my friends, or whatever it happens to be.. but helps me really see that in the overall picture He's all that I need, all that I can truly rely on, the only one with the power to change who I am to who I want to be. Let him be the one that I'm living for. Hope that makes sense.

That's so good you're getting into the word hey. There so much power in it to change us, to grow to know our amazing Dad more. Keep plugged in!

Thanks for posting - your deep posts are my favourite Serg!

hey Serg. totally know what you mean, especially being in Japan, i remember my first day here, I just read the Bible ... you cling to it more, paradoxically! But its a good thing! cant complain. we often pray that we draw closer dont we. so here's the answer. ;P Hey?!

awesome shots of the bible dude.

Is that filter done in your camera or did you put it in photoshop to get that look?

Looks flippin hot.

Are you sure that it's being out of your comfort zone that's making you turn to the bible?

Could it also perhaps be that you have less distractions because of the culture change and therefore it's easier to read the bible.

Here in perth there's so many alternatives to reading the bible... the whole social scene, going out in groups, seeing movies, having coffee etc... Perhaps there's so much other stuff you can do here in perth and friends that you can hang out with... that you don't have as much time to read the word. Or there's always a more enticing alternative.

But when you go over there to Chile with less to see and do, and perhaps a quiter and more peaceful environment... you can really focus on reading the bible without distractions and people text messaging you and stuff..

Get what i mean?

maybe i'm way off the mark here.... but just sharing a thought.

Hey Hairy Bollocks, that last scripture should be handy for u if u get caught gazing??? and someone goes for ur nuts - u can tell them that in the OT u could get ur hand removed for such an offence! Classic mate...

Nice work tOny, missing u at the b00f's house™ - mainly missing being able to abuse u on msn from the next room and hearing u laugh like u were in the same room... interesting!
