This morning- the heavens opened up and a foot of soft powdery snow fell in Steamboat Springs Colorado. It was absolutely fantastic, although I knew it was coming because it was minus 7 last night, and I assume more will come tomorrow morning because its minus 12 outside now.
Interesting facts about the USA that I've discovered since arriving 9 days ago;
-A red traffic light does not necessarily mean you have to stop
-The size of the burger combo you eat for lunch & dinner usually determines your waist size, small combo is not available
-It is certainly optional to wear a number plate on the front & back of a vehicle, or at all
-The size of your vehicle does not determine or govern your brain size
-Election time is a really big deal- and you bombarded from every angle about who not to vote for
-Most Americans think there is only one country in the world- and that is theirs
-All people entering the country are considered terrorists until proven otherwise
-Buying a rifle off the supermarket shelf (Wal-Mart) is optional to every citizen, and they wonder why they have so many shootings over here
-One police service is not sufficient, try 4 different types of police
-It is OK to have 8 different types of fast food restaurants in a row
-Beer can be sold on the supermarket shelf, & supermarkets are bigger than Bunning’s Superstores
-Female mullets are certainly in fashion, well in country towns anyway
-You need padding & a helmet on to play football
-Apparently all Aussies wear khaki shorts & shirt (thanks Steve Irwin)
-Entrée order at a restaurant actually means a main meal

yeah, i'll agree with the red light not meaning stop - driving in argentina i was stopped at a red light and all the cars just went sailing through. also, i came to and intersection where there was no lights and it was just a free-for-all, cars going everywhere, including me up onto the curb with my brakes locked up. crazy country. but not half as bad as driving in peru.

Interesting facts on the US of A... the b00f™ would like to visit a place where u could get beer in the supermarket - and guns! HELL YEAH!!! then u could get liquored up and go shoot some cans... hahahahahaaaa cough cough
you can get beer in the supermarket on a sunday in new zealand. you can get beer at a service station in south america, so you can fuel up while you're fuelling up. there is some outrage that the new via expressway in lima has curves in it because it makes it harder for drunk people to drive on it.
Im a big fan of the red light system in the states... also of the lack of speed cameras and street cops... not that i do anything wrong... ever...

I saw a thing on tv about a new food thats come out... sausage on a stick, wrapped in a chocolate chip pancake... only in america, aamericans can be so stupid!
but i love them anyway! If i was in colorado i would visit you... but after my trip back to oz, Im not sure where in the states ill be living... maybe colorado with the snow and the mullets?
Beautiful shots - ahh Christmas in the snow!! Bring it on - there's nothing like it! WHne I was there we bought all our under $5 Christmas presents at wal-mart - gotta love that place but you can only get ammo for under $5 or a kiddy hunting knife!
Well the Americans certainly are interesting people. Further to this, we have had 80 inches of powdery snow over the last 40 hours. Makes the driving conditions very dangerous, especially after the snow compacts after being driven on and turns into solid ice. Many accidents on the roads today, including a truck rollover on the main street.
Looks so nice there, very envious right now! How wierd to think that you are driving on ice when it is getting so hot back here in Perth! Drive safely okay :)
