Let me introduce 'Mervin' Moose and 'Lewis' Frog who were both born 7 Jan in Steamboat Gondola Square when my parents where in town. 'Merv' has since tried driving buses; although he is unable to reach the pedals with his short legs. 'Merv' has also become a christian and prefers The Message version.
Unfortunately 'Lewis' the frog was sent back to Australia with my mother as it proved in the first day that he has a problem with alcohol; he has since enroled in re-hab and treatment appears to be going well. The 3rd photo is from the Breckenridge ice sculpture show I went to 3 weeks ago- trully incredible. 'Merv' went into hiding as he felt a little outdone on this occassion.
'Merv' at the Steamboat Winter Carnival last weekend, the City of Steamboat closed off the main highway (Lincoln Ave) going through town and put 4 inches of snow down on the road. They then tow skiers along flat out behind horses. 'Merv' was sitting in the middle of the highway checking out the scenery and some of the local talent, suddenly 2 security Guards in the background moved the little fella on (at back is the main ski mountain- Mt Werner).
Some of the local school kids built snow sculptures in the main street; 'Merv' met his evil nemisis 'Morris'. One of the other main events at the Winter Carnival is the shovel tow where young blokes normally after a big night sit on shovels and are towed down the snow covered highway at about 75 klms/hr. Another photo from the Breckenridge Ice Sculpture Show, all of these sculptures where completed in 40 hours by international teams of 6.
