A picture of all of us on the slopes (Brett, Giselle, me, Tim, Cheyanne, Cody, Jaslyn), and then me flying down a black diamond slope last Tuesday warm afternoon; as you can see the snow is starting to melt.
This is the border of Colorado & Utah in the middle of the desert (a 4 lane interstate freeway), Giselle checking out the size of the utes in Salt Lake City- extremely big), Merv checking out the olympic statue in the heart of the city.
Merv checked out the flash headquarters for 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' right in the heart of Salt Lake City. Salt Lake area is approx 48.5% Latter Day Saints (Mormons), plus they had their national conference on for the week; which bought out the christian protestors. Another picture of their main cathedral by night; their buildings & gardens cover over 12 city blocks.
Merv met the 2 Catholic men that discovered the Salt Lake area on Memorial Hill, This family is symbolic of the 3,000 members of the original Mormans that trekked 1300 miles across the Rockies to Zion (Salt Lake) between 1855- 1860 with 1300 dying on the journey.
Merv at Antelope Island just north of Salt Lake City; Rockies & the Salt lake in background.
Went to location of 2002 Winter Olympics in Park City (Salt Lake) Utah.

Went to Dinosaur Park (border of Colorado & Utah) on way back to Steamboat, great scenery although no Dinasours seen in the park.

I gotta say these updates are a real highlight for me. The USA through the eyes of Gav. I reckon you should write a book about your travels. It would be a hit!
Well mate, only a few days and you can soak up & experience the USA culture yourself. At the moment after speaking to so many Mormans in Salt Lake- I have converted and plan to start my own LDS outreach in Swan View.
A few others have suggested the 'Gav's guide to the Land of the Ignorant'. I will have to speak to a few publishers once back in WA.
i'll help you write a sequel - A guide to ignorant consumption: embracing your consumerist way of life at the expense of everybody elses.
Sales would be huge in the states, but only if we packaged it in as much plastic and shiney stuff as possible.
'Gav's Guide to the Land of the Ignorant' should be a podcast! get with the times people!
Gavo mate! Good Post!...that looks a little flat for a black diamond slope!?
Thats because Ado the person taking the photo was standing at the end of the ski run, this is just before the ski lift..... Catch ya soon mate
